The following is required for the registration of New motor vehicles, motorcycles, trailers, semi-trailers, trucks, and caravans:

• Complete the Application Form for Registration and Licensing of Motor Vehicle (RLV)

• The vehicle’s Introduction / Manufacturing certificate

• A clear certified copy of the owner South African Identity Document

• Proof of address e.g. utility account

If the utility bill is not in your name, the owner of the bill must make an affidavit declaring that you live at the address and the utility bill must be attached to the affidavit.

For the registration of Pre-owned (used) motor vehicles, motorcycles, trailers, semi-trailers, trucks and caravans the following is required:

• The seller must first complete Notification of change of ownership (NCO) form
• Complete the Application for Registration and Licensing of Motor Vehicle (RLV) form.
• Certification of roadworthiness
• A clear certified copy of the buyer South African Identity Document
• A clear certified copy of the seller South African Identity Document
• Original registration documentation (in the seller's name)
• Proof of purchase of the vehicle (invoice / contract)
• Proof of address e.g. utility account

If the utility bill is not in your name, the owner of the bill must make an affidavit declaring that you live at the address and the utility bill must be attached to the affidavit.
